Zoe's Progress
Zoe has had quite a rough start. From the minute she was born there was always something. Kattie
was not a good mom but you can't blame her never having been one before, 17 yrs and now there is
something happening inside her belly she just can't understand.
So After Zoe's birth trying to allow them time to bond, Kattie kept stepping on that poor little girl. So
we made a corner stall tall enough so Kattie could reach her with her head but not her feet. Well that
didn't last long, Kattie dug a 3ft trench in front of the stall. Basically flipping out over not being able
to get to her. Sooooo we put her back with Kattie and with in 24 hours she had bit the top of Zoe's
head making her need 3 staples. She had her mouth over the crown of Zoe's head you could feel
the mark from the bottom teeth behind her ears, but that didn't break the skin.
Kattie wouldn't let Zoe attempt to nurse, get close to her at all and continued to be aggressive to her
which made us build yet another stall inside Katties stall so Zoe would be safe and Kattie could see
her.. I truly believe Kattie didn't care and show any attention or affection to Zoe because I believe
she felt as horses and all animals have wonderful instinct that Zoe wasn't suppose to survive. So
the longer Zoe was there the more confused Kattie got. But as time went on Kattie excepted it and
little by little allows her near her with out a lot of aggression. She still has her moments but we are
not afraid of them in the paddock together and Zoe gets the much needed interaction with a horse
to learn some manners.
We had the staples removed because they kept getting caught and made more damage to her head
so our vet put on some spray a nice neon yellow and this is what it looked like after a few days with
out the staples. It was healing nicely.
You can not tell now that Zoe had anything happen to her head. No bump or scar.. We are very
happy about that. And she is not head shy at all.

November 20th Zoe's first snow fall. After a very long fight trying to get her out of the barn.. She
couldn't get enough of the snow.  Running around and just causing caos amongst the other girls.
Easy come easy go.. snow gone over night. Zoe is
totally confused. Don't worry girl PLENTY more to come.
